What is Clark Family Medical
- At Clark Family Medicine, we offer Direct Primary Care (DPC)—a simple, membership-based model that gives you direct access to your doctor without the hassles of insurance. This means longer visits, transparent pricing, and care that’s personal and accessible.
- But we don’t stop there. Our focus also includes proactive and longevity medicine—helping you prevent disease, stay healthier longer, and feel your best at every stage of life. It’s care designed not just to treat illness, but to keep you thriving.
What is direct primary care?
- Direct Primary Care is a newer model of healthcare where patients have direct access to their primary care physician, allowing for a more personal relationship. Direct Primary Care has no barriers to patient care, like insurance/Medicare, or even accessing the doctor. The doctor only takes a limited number of patients and therefore will have more time to spend with patients compared with a traditional practice. Patients will pay a monthly membership fee; your insurance or Medicare plan will not be billed, so there will be no co-pays. The membership fee includes the ability for longer appointments, significant decreased wait times to get into my schedule, telemedicine appointments, texting and emailing.
- Patients can still use their insurance or Medicare plan to help pay for labs, imaging tests, and to see specialty doctors, but it won’t be needed to see their Direct Primary Care doctor.
- I have negotiated lab pricing with labcorp for a SIGNIFICANT reduction in cost to the patient.
- It is still recommended to have a high deductible health plan in case they need to go to the hospital.
-
Monthly membership fees cover needed office visits without a copay. We utilize a HIPAA compliant messaging app that will make the team available M-F.
-
In instances where specialty care is required, I will be available to coordinate your care with the hospital or specialist. In some cases, depending on the level of care and the sorts of expertise required, I may rely on those specialized caregivers to manage your treatment.
-
I love caring for patients of all ages and in all stages! I offer full spectrum family medicine except obstetrics. I love the variety that my patients bring me!
-
I am offering a one time longevity and proactive healthcare visit with a consultation. This will not include any management with medications.
-
The Direct Primary Care model may seem similar to a concierge practice and it is in some ways (e.g. direct access to the doctor), but the differences are that with a concierge practice, the membership fees are much higher and they charge your insurance or Medicare plan each time you see the doctor. Direct primary care memberships fees are less than many gym memberships.
-
We maintain scrupulous standards of privacy. We are never obligated to provide any third party with a copy of your records, unless you specifically ask that we do so.
-
Yes. I aim to provide the majority of the care you will need, but medical conditions and illnesses can arise that require specialty care, hospitalization or surgery. Direct Primary Care is not intended to take the place of health insurance.
-
No, I do not accept or bill health insurance. In the DPC model, I will contract directly with the patient, not an insurance company, to provide quality care. By eliminating the restrictions and frustrations associated with health insurance, I can keep costs low and spend as much time as needed with my patients. However, you can still use your insurance for other needs such as medications, imaging, or specialist/hospital visits.
-
- In order to care for patients with Medicare under a Direct Primary Care model, I am required to “opt out” of Medicare. This does not mean I cannot see Medicare patients—it simply means that our office contracts directly with you rather than billing Medicare for visits. I am still recognized as an ordering provider, so services like labs, imaging, and referrals can continue to be covered by Medicare as usual.
- Medicare Advantage or HMO plans that require you to see a primary care physician within their network might make it more difficult for us to work together.
